Frequently, users call in saying that they cannot get into a database (usually their mail files) because of an invalid structure message. Run fixup or updall? Restore the database? Replicate to try to correct the problem?

No. Usually the problem has to do with the desktop. Remove the problem-creating icon, compact the desktop and replace the icon. The user is then able to access the nsf file with no problems.

Want to go the extra step? After compacting the desktop, exit Notes and delete the cache.dsk file. This has the side effect of speeding up their Notes performance if it is too large.
